Our principal

Danielle Scarpelli - Principal

This is my 25th year in education, serving in many roles throughout my time. I started my career in the classroom as a middle school teacher, teaching English. I spent many years as a classroom teacher having experience in both elementary and junior high. I have a Bachelors in Elementary Education from Coastal Carolina University, a Masters in Divergent Learning from Columbia College, and an Ed.S in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University. I spent 12 years teaching in Charlotte Mecklenburg County Schools before moving back to SC where I started my career in administration. The last 12 years, my work experience was in both Horry County Schools and Georgetown County School District. I am honored and elated to be the inaugural principal for Morning Star Academy. Throughout my career I have seen education evolve and have the experience from both ends of the learning spectrum. One thing I have always prided myself in, and remains constant, is always seeing things through the lens of a mother, not only an educator. How would my children want to be served in today's schools? Speaking of motherhood, I have been blessed with two children, a son and a daughter. My husband has always been my number one fan and greatest supporter in all of my career decisions and is also excited to see what the future holds for Morning Star. My goal is to offer our community something that sets us apart from all the other schools in the area and provides opportunities for our kids to think "outside of the box," and reignites the light that seems to be dimming in today's classrooms. Through my service and leadership, my goal is to develop and shape our leaders for the future, while providing an environment where children feel loved, safe, valued, and believed in.
